Mature Dog Food
The most significant change that occurs when your dog matures is their change in nutritional requirements. This is caused by a few different factors that can affect your dog on individual levels. As their health deteriorates their nutritional requirements alter accordingly. Their diets should contain lower levels of fat, phosphorus and protein to take any pressure off their ageing and usually problematic organs such as kidneys and heart. They are also probably progressively doing less exercise and will need fewer calories. Their digestive tract also requires more fibre. All the premium dog food brands agree that mature dogs need to have their changing nutritional needs met and different size breeds have different needs again.
